Rural Rajasthan, rewritten by the people who live it.

RAAVI works alongside villages across Rajasthan — from the Aravallis to the Thar — on water, schools, women-led enterprise, and dignified livelihoods. We don't parachute in. We sit on the charpai, listen, and build what the village says it needs.

Our mission

We don't fix villages. We back them.

Rural Rajasthan is not a problem to be solved by outsiders. It is a civilisation already running — with its own systems, leaders, and intelligence. Most of what the development sector calls "intervention" is a stranger walking in with a clipboard.

RAAVI exists to do the opposite. We embed in a village for years, not months. We hand budgets to women's collectives, not contractors. We measure success by what the village keeps running after we leave.

What we do

Five pillars. One village at a time.

Schools that don't close

Foundational literacy and numeracy with local teachers, attendance built around the agricultural calendar, and after-school baithaks for first-generation learners.

Water that lasts the summer

Reviving traditional johads, building rooftop rainwater systems, and training village water committees so the well doesn't run dry by April.

Women-led livelihoods

Self-help groups around block-printing, bandhej, dairy, and millet farming — with bank linkage, fair-trade buyers, and budgets the women actually control.

Primary health on the doorstep

ASHA-partnered maternal-health camps, anaemia screening for adolescent girls, and tele-consults with Jaipur doctors over a single shared device.

Panchayat capacity

Plain-language workshops for elected sarpanches and women panchayat members on schemes, budgets, and how to actually move a file in Jaipur.

Open data for the village

Every rupee, every borewell, every child enrolled — published on a public dashboard the village itself can read and challenge.

Impact, honestly

Numbers a village would recognise.

We publish what worked and what didn't. Pilots that failed get a write-up. So do the ones that scaled.

Get involved

Three honest ways to help.

Long-term only

Embed with us

We don't take weekend volunteers. We do take engineers, designers, doctors, and teachers willing to spend 3+ months in a village.
